As of Late.

To my few (fab) readers I apologize for the lack of posts. But I am back (by popular demand) and am ready to rumble.
To get you up to speed, the end of the year was absolute chaos. I would fill you in on my oh so busy life but I'll spare the gory details and just hit the highlights...

1. I passed my journalism class! Now this may sound like a no-brainer to the average joe-schmoe but this was no ordinary journalism class. This is a pre-requisite to my major and an 82 or below is failing. (83 is a C)

2. I got an A in French!! I have taken Spanish since for like...ever so French was a big fish for me to fry and I did tres bien if I do say so myself!

3. I successfully initiated my first pledge class! I'm the New Member Educator for my sorority and we took a couple of spring girls and everyone involved survived! (pause for applause)

Now that school is over for a couple of weeks I get to relax and parooze the web and malls. I'm a winter lover at heart, but I can't be wearing my rider boots and pea coat with an exaggerated collar in the August heat. No no no dolls...

So here are a few things I've got my eyes on...

Wedges. Quite possibly the greatest shoe ever invented.
(aside from the nude pump...and slippers...)
available at Steve Madden
talk about making your leg look a million miles long! AND they are so easy and comfortable to walk in! BONUS

available at anthropologie.com
This little number is listed as a swim suit cover-up, which is actually where I prefer to browse for summer dresses. Not only are they adorable but they can be a bit more affordable!
Also available at Anthropologie
I think this blouse is perfect for spring/summer. Paired with a great pair of white pants (if you dare) or shorts... maybe throw on the Steve Madden wedges... you'll be good to go for just about any occasion

That's all I've got for right now. But don't worry, I'll keep scouring the internet and malls for both of us to better our wardrobes. (You're welcome)

In the mean time...while you're busy making room in your closet for your new summer frocks, stop and take a minute to gather things you don't wear anymore and donate them toward the  Alabama tornado relief efforts. This page should give you information on local drop-off locations.

War Eagle y'all!

Enjoyment :)

Things I enjoy:

The chipmunk my grandma feeds every day...
His name is Chippy in case you were curious.

French bulldogs. I plan on having two of them. Pierre and Henri will be their names.
I also plan to train them in french so that when friends come over and try to play with them they won't do anything they say.

Carmel, California:

There are too many great pictures of the ocean, so here is a picture of my grandparent's house.

the couple inside the house: aka the best part
And yes, this is the grandma that feeds Chippy...

Being a Diva (duh): ... it's a hard lifestyle really...

My Sister:
I honestly have no words for how much I miss her.
"I know that I'm far away but I think of you everyday...you laugh away the rain"

My Sister's photography: I look at it every day and you should too. She has SO MUCH talent.
So go check out her facebook page or her blog. She's legit.

Hope.

For me to sit here and say that the beginning of March was easy would be like me saying that I hate birthdays. Absolutely untrue. For those of you who don't know, I'm the biggest birthday diva you will ever meet. Ever.

But pity is not what I want, and praise is not what I seek. A little inspiration is all that I'm after. And inspiration is exactly what I got.

A little fact about me: I hate change. I don't handle it well.

For example (side story): when I was leaving for college, I cried from the moment we started packing the car until we hit the Louisiana border. It takes a little over 3 hours to get out of Texas from Dallas so there was about a four hour period of constant tear flowage. You know, the kind where when someone (mom) tries to change the subject and ask you a question and every time you open your mouth to answer you start uncontrollably weeping. Don't act like you aren't familiar with this...

Anyhow, that being said, this past week I was greeted with unfavorable change of many kinds. My heart stumbled a bit and I had trouble finding the inspiration I was desperately searching for. Wednesday rolled around and I walked to my room to find a folded piece of paper stuck on my door. I unfolded the paper to find this:

"Beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, but it's the middle that counts the most. Try to remember that when you find yourself at a new beginning. Just give hope a chance to float up. And it will..."- Hope Floats.

I suppose the phrase "ask and you shall receive" comes to mind because this is exactly the kind of thing I needed to read. I couldn't care less if you think it's cheesy or weird, but the quote with kind words written underneath is now tacked to my bulletin board, right by my door, so I see it in every passing.

I am many things synonymous to grateful.  And thanks to a lot of help from my friends, you can add hopeful to the list...

I am lucky enough to have surrounded myself with people who have my back, look after my heart, and fill my mind with wisdom. I have discovered that if this is not the case for every person in your life, they have no business being there.

Surround yourself with nothing but love. Because that's something that everyone deserves.

Here's to hoping for the best...

Joy.

I can't believe it's already February!!! Where has the time gone? I usually am not a big February fan but I recently read my friend, Erin Kanter's, post about her view on the month and Valentine's Day and it really turned my mood around. If you haven't done so already, you should check out her blog @ http://erinkan.blogspot.com/ Her two most recent posts will make you smile...I guarantee it :) And who doesn't need a mid-week pick-me-up? If you know her, you'll understand when I say we could all use a little Erin Kanter in our lives. So check out her blog!

Speaking of brightening my day, I've recently noticed that I have a lot of things in my life that bring an outrageously unexpected amount of joy to my life...this is post is a little on the long side, so read with caution!

My roommate, Kacey, introduced me to my latest go-to snack item: I'm all about keeping things traditional, but these Goldfish are AMAZING. The next time you're at the grocery store pick up a bag, you won't regret it!

Over Christmas break I bought myself a little present. I'm not the biggest Lilly Pulitzer fan, but this planner has absolutely saved my life! Despite the obvious cuteness factor, all the holiday's are marked, the months are themed, and you can decorate with stickers! Talk about a fun distraction for those boring lecture classes....what?

Awhile back ago my grandmother went to the mall in hopes of purchasing some new makeup. She ended up getting a free makeover and got a ton of samples and products that they used on her. She hated the foundation they used "It makes me look so Yellow!" was her complaint. Well, one girls trash is another's treasure, because she gave it to me and I have used it ever since! The coverage is even without the "cakey" affect we so desperately aim to avoid. A natural look with long lasting coverage...what more could you want?

There really is no explanation for this next one. It's a great bag and I carry it with me all the time. I use it as a bookbag and as a purse. It's a little on the pricey side but it's absolutely worth the purchase. It works all year round and it's ready for any weather! You can even go online and design your own!

This one really needs no explanation. Who doesn't love a show about friends, fashion, love and New York City? But the real question is...which character are you?

And finally, the ones who get a lot of credit for giving me the best semesters of college anyone could hope for. I don't know what to do with them...but I don't know what I'd do without them. They have been such a blessing in my life and provide me with nonstop joy. I wish everyone was lucky enough to experience living with these two crazy girls :)

Sorry for the long post but these things give me so much joy I couldn't just keep them to myself!

That's the LoDown.
Have a joyous day
Xx

P.s It's my sister Katie's 22nd birthday tomorrow! Check out her blog and wish her a happy birthday! http://katie-yellowflowers.blogspot.com/
