May Oh My

At first I thought I had nothing to post about but then I realized that tomorrow is June 1st!

May went by SO stinkin fast! I feel like it was like last week that I was posting about how tomorrow was the 1st of May and giving you a laundry list of things I was looking forward to.

I don't have much on my calendar for June. Just working, hopefully getting some sun and doing a little shopping.

I love, love my internship for the summer. I think it's great practice and the environment is killer. It's making me very eager to start my PR internship with Auburn Athletics.

I'm on the hunt for a full-length mirror, but being a poor college kid I refuse to spend $300 on it... so what does this mean for me? Luckily it's the summer which means...garage sales!

Hopefully I'll be successful in my search. I'm also wanting to better my piano playing skills, eat at fun restaurants and travel around Dallas... So I'll let you know how all of these plans go with a 9-5 job that's 5 days a week...

Anyhow, June, May was great so you've got some big shoes to fill.

Work hard and stay humble folks,

-Lo.

I Sleep But I Don't Rest.

I'M
SO
SLEEPY...

But for some reason I won't let myself go to bed. I do this all the time and I haven't the slightest clue why.

Am I afraid the world is going to change while I shut my eyes?
Am I afraid a friend is going to invite me to do something really fun? (As if I would go...I'm pooped!)
Is Leonardo DiCaprio going to show up at my doorstep and profess his love for me?

Maybe it's because all day long I'm going, going, going. On the computer, on the phone, in one person's office, down the hall to another person's office, emailing 8 different people all while making lunch plans with Erin... no really that was what I did from 9-5 today. And after Erin and I had lunch (soaking wet thanks to the torrential downpour that fell upon us) we made plans and promises to go to trendy wine bars around Dallas.

I'm an excellent multi-tasker. Really though I am. But I never thought I was going to be one of those people who couldn't turn their brain off

But sometimes I'm afraid that once it's off, it's off.

Much like a stubborn piece of technology, my brain picks and chooses when it wants to work. And then when you take it into the store it always works perfectly and the sales rep looks at you like you're crazy....

How is it almost June already??

Hmm...

Bed time.

Memorial Day Memories

I don't normally post twice in one day but this weekend was so great that I would like to not only let you in on it, but to keep track of it for myself. This is going to be a lengthy post, so buckle up...

My weekend sort of started on Thursday night with a dinner date with my friend Max. He treated me to drinks and dinner at one of our favorite Dallas staples, Mi Cocina. The two of us always get to talking and before you know it, it's been three hours and they are politely trying to tell us it's closing time.

Friday was a fairly easy day at work and I was fortunate enough to get off around 2:30 in honor of the holiday weekend.

This allowed me to spend the afternoon with Erin and Ashley. I can not tell you how much I had been looking forward to this. We don't get to spend a lot of time together and trust me, we don't take one second for granted. I haven't laughed that hard in a while...
While Ashley watched her baby sister graduate high school, Erin and I grabbed some grub. We ate rather early so we were surrounded by families with children which led to quite funny conversations. Erin has such a positive and level-headed outlook on life. I love hearing her opinions and I really can't wait to see her as a wife and mom. I feel like that's where she's really going to thrive.

Saturday was a gem of a day. My dear friend Patrick and I spent the day together. Patrick goes to Baylor so I only see him during the holiday's but we never fail to pick up as if no time has gone by at all. I love having friends like that. When I'm with people like him I truly feel like I'm home.

Later that day my sister and I worked on the project I posted about below. I think it's become my favorite room in the house because I keep looking for ways to be in there!

While working on the frames I got a message from Patrick telling me to shower and change because he wanted to take me to dinner.

I happily obliged and I am so glad I did because it was such a lovely evening.

Preface: Patrick and I used to sing together in choir. Our voices blend really well together so we've always made lists of songs we want to sing and record together. Most of the time when we hang out we drive around singing or playing with songs on his guitar.

I got to his house and we played around with some songs and after dinner he grabbed his guitar and headed to Lakeside, my favorite park in the Park Cities, parked ourselves on a bench and played and sang for hours.

He attempted to teach me to play a few chords and after seeing how hard that was for me, I now think guitar players are more talented than I did before.

It was probably the best and sweetest "date" I've been on in a while.

Katie and I both agree that Memorial Day Weekend should be spent by water, so Sunday and Monday were spent by my grandmother's pool.

I would like to note that this weekend last year was my favorite weekend of the whole summer.

Looks like this is a good time of the year for me :)

If you're still reading this, I applaud you. Give yourself a pat on the back because you rule.

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend as much as I did!

Xx,
-Lo.

Shop and Save...The Bags.

This weekend my sister, my mom and I worked on a project we saw off of Pinterest a while back ago.

We recently re-did the bathroom my sister and I share and needed something for our limited wall space.

The new look of the bathroom is very clean. Gray walls, white ruffled shower curtain and decorative votives with candles. Elegant but clean...which we love.

What we needed on the wall was color but we wanted to maintain the crisp, clean theme we've got working...

And voila!!:

We collected the bags from Christmas's, birthday's and shopping trips and then went to Aaron Brother's frame store to decide which frames to hang them in.

Aaron Brother's always has amazing sales, (especially since this weekend was Memorial Day Weekend) and I think we bought all 7 frames for just under $70!

I am so happy with the way it turned out. It's exactly the look we were going for.

Here We Go.

My, oh my it's been a while. I would like to point a finger at the finicky internet connection that exists in this home as to why I have been slacking on you, dear readers.

Katie and I attended the oh so anticipated Miranda Lambert concert last weekend. The weather was absolutely perfect and getting seats instead of fending for a spot on the lawn was definitely the way to go.

Angela came to stay with me for a couple of days this week. It's always such a joy to get her to myself since I don't get to see her often. I was proud at how adventurous we were on such a whim. We dined in the Bishop Arts District (commonly referred to as the ghetto to my fellow "parkies"...it's in Oak Cliff. cue gasps) at a darling pizza restaurant called Eno's. There was a quaint diner down the street called "Oddfellows" that I really want to try. The menu is offbeat but the inside decor was rather charming. I can just smell the Instagram possibilities! After each drinking a glass of Sauvian Blanc and splitting a pizza we ventured over to Uptown's Mi Cocina for some Margarita's and Sangria. Tipsy talk is always the best :)

This weekend I worked backstage at the Preston Center Dance recital. I was a part of the studio for 16 years and I've worked the shows for probably 6 years so it's really easy money for me. I know the auditorium like the back of my hand and it's always really great to spend time with people who shaped my childhood.
I feel that it's like working a glorified fashion show. I "run" girls from their dressing      rooms to their respective side of the stage, put them in order, fix hair, check shoes, tuck in ballet strings, help with quick changes, give directions and fuss at people who aren't doing what they need to do. Good practice if I ever choose to pursue a career in fashion I suppose.

I met with old friends, Caroline and Savannah, for breakfast this morning before Caroline headed off to be a camp counselor for the summer. I think I'm getting better at being a morning person.

Hayden and I got our nails done today in preparation for her departure for Denmark and for me starting my internship. Both happening on Monday. I'm a little nervous but I'm really excited to start shaping my craft.

Pictures of my various adventures are soon to come! But this post is long enough I'm sure. So for now, I wish you a good night/day.

Forever Busy,
-Lo.

Appreciation.

I don't get the chance to watch very often, but every time I'm home my family and I watch American Idol together. As most of you readers know I grew up doing choir and theater so this show is very dear to my heart.

I sort of grew out of it after a while but I seem to gain interest in the final few weeks.

This past week was the final 4 competitors. It's performances like these that reiterate why I love this show, and music in general:

This is 16-year-old Jessica Sanchez. She performed "And I Am Telling You" by Jennifer Holiday from the Dreamgirls soundtrack. I would say every person who can sing wishes they could do this song justice and Sanchez does just that. Her control and emotion is astounding especially for someone her age...this was simply phenomenal.

I have no words to explain the greatness of Joshua Ledet's rendition of "It's A Man's World" by James Brown. Jennifer Lopez said it perfectly when she said "I finally know what the saying 'took me to church' means." I wish more artists would sing true R&B...this is a genre appealing to most, yet lacking in our generation.

Truly talented kids right here. Take a listen- I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Lo.

The Closeout.

Oh my lanta May has been so good to me already. Sorry for the delay in postings, finals got in the way which I promised myself I wouldn't let them do. But alas, here I am.

I closed out my junior year with quite a bang. I had 5 finals and landed myself an interview with Auburn's Athletics Department for a PR intern position.

I was so thankful to even get the opportunity to interview. Sports and Entertainment (including fashion) PR is what I see myself doing down the road.

My interview was Wednesday and let me tell you, walking into the Athletics Complex is kind of intimidating-Auburn takes it's sports very seriously and these people are NOT messing around.

I left the interview feeling really confident. I called my parents and told them that even if I didn't get the position, I felt really good about the interview.

But I guess they felt good about my interview as well because Thursday I got a very flattering phone call asking me to fill the position!

It's going to be me and 2 other girls working together. We'll have office hours and projects of our own to complete.

I am overjoyed to have gotten this opportunity. I know it's going to be trying but I am so excited to see what the Fall is going to bring.

I can't believe I'm a senior in college. I remember graduating high school as if it was yesterday. There is no way 4 years has gone by already...

But now I'm off to pack up my room to embark on my summer journeys...

To those of you in finals still, good luck my loves! As my dad would say "Do good, do your best."

With love,
-Lo.

mother MAY i?

It's May!!!
Yippeeee
This month is going to be jam packed with many exciting adventures.

I'll be finishing up finals (praise God), wishing Erin a very happy 21st birthday, celebrating Cinco de Mayo, packing up my stuff, moving home to Dallas for the summer, celebrating Mother's Day, volunteering at my old dance studio to help with recital (it's a paid volunteer position...can I get an Amen?), going to see Miranda Lambert in concert with my seester, starting my internship in the big D and having oh so sweet reunions with my partners in crime.

What a fun and busy month. Here's to hoping it's as great as I'm anticipating it to be.

Xx,
-Lo.

P.s: Erin, I would like to create a similar photo to the one above. Just giving you a heads up.
