Caught up in the downs no more.

I've revisited my love for making lists. I made a list on Sunday for things I needed to do on Monday, and then made a new one on Monday for the sake of making a new list.

All girls, and maybe guys too, have this love affair for crossing things off. I think it gives us validation for the things we've accomplished in life. Like a visual high five.

I've noticed that I try to avoid putting things on my list that I don't want to do. And if I suck it up and put something on there that I'm dreading, I add a bunch of little things on there, or things I've already done just so I can cross them off...

Strange I know. But the goal is to cross everything off the list...so it looks like I have no choice...

From now on I decided I'm going to add "have a good day" to every list I make. I mean, at the end of the day, that's really what counts, right?

I could cross everything off a list that's a mile long, but if I had a bad day, who cares?

I'm also entertaining the idea of every night before bed making a list (mental or physical) of all the things I loved about that day. An outfit, a drink at starbucks...anything good about that day.

...Life is full of ups and downs and I am guilty of getting caught up in the downs...

Yes that test was hard, yes I spent so much time studying for it, yes I'm tired and yes...I miss my family...

But...
I had a great dinner with Kacey
I laughed really hard with my dad
I stumbled upon a great Bible verse (Col. 3:14)
Katie sent me pictures of Beau
I'm sore from a great workout
John Mayer is singing to me through my MacBook speakers

And just like that I'm caught up in the ups...

End today on a good note.

Positively yours,

-Lo.

Antiquing.

Saturday was spent at an antique store called Angels. My roommates, some friends and I went to poke around and see what we could find.

You have to be in the right mindset to shop at Angels. Like most antique stores there is a lot of random "treasures" lying around and it can be overwhelming.

Luckily I spotted a few gems...

I bought this antiqued mirror for $12. I already had the candle sconces
from a previous purchase but decided to paint them a faded blue for a touch of color.
If you look closely into the mirror, you can see I have carried the blue theme into my bathroom
with a blue frame.
I have yet to find a place for this piece,
which I knew would be an issue when I bought it ($18)
but I had to have it.
I feel confident I'll find something to do with it in the 3-floor house I live in!
Other Angels items can be spotted around my room...
This "Love Story" sign is hanging above my door.
It's hard to see here but the wood is painted blue which I used
to color match the sconces by the mirror. I used a mixture of white, light blue
and light green to give it a true antiqued match.

This one might be one of my favorite finds:
Meaning "Good Night" in french, this piece ads a little charm
to my DIY shabby chic feel I've been aiming for!
I think my favorite part about antique shopping is that it makes me get creative. It's a great way to be crafty for not a lot of money. This summer my mom and I bought my desk from Angels (featured in a post circa August 2011) for only $50!

So if you have a spare afternoon, look around for some antique shops. Be patient and dig around...you'll be amazed at what hidden gems you might find!

Craftily yours,

-Lo.

Big Week.

My week in review:

Tuesday: My parents celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. I can only hope to find someone who treats me the way my dad treats my mom and to be the kind of woman my mom is for my dad.

Wednesday: The first day of February. Birthday month to my sister, Hayden and Beau! The month of one of Erin's favorite holiday's AND the start of the shortest month of the year.

Thursday: one of the most beautiful days I've seen in Auburn in a long time!
This is one of the new Engineer buildings.
So beautiful it actually makes me jealous I won't have a class in it!
...Also...
Lisa's package came in the mail!!
She knows how much I like to share..
but can you blame me?! Deeeelicious!
JD's is my favorite place back home for a quick cookie and diet coke.

Friday: Allie and I spent the day in between classes in downtown Auburn visiting one of the town's most famous and beloved places: Toomer's Corner.
For those of you from HP, this place is a lot like Highland Park Pharmacy.
Instead of milkshakes they serve soft-served yogurt, but their specialty is the lemonade.
Every glass is freshly squeezed right in front of you
so the whole place smells like lemons!
Friday night my evening was spent chatting away with friends at dinner and then hitting up downtown after dark.
My friends are ridiculous but I absolutely love them

And today I've been at my friends house watching Lifetime movies and playing with this little guy!

Zeus! Erika and her boyfriend's puppy!
Hope you've all had a great week.
