Love, Hate and Other Ideas.

Today's thoughts:

i love listening to Miranda Lambert
i hate running out of Miranda Lambert songs

i love talking to Katie on the phone
i hate that I have to talk on the phone to talk to Katie

i love living on the 3rd floor because it's quiet
i hate living on the 3rd floor because I'm lazy and forgetful

i love watching Law and Order: SVU
i hate that I love watching Law and Order: SVU because it's kind of really disturbing

i love spring weather
i hate bikini season- yuck!

i love when I eat healthy
i hate counting calories

i love cake
i don't hate anything about it...which I hate.

In other news:

-i have a weakness for m&m's in easter colors
-Lisa (my mom)  has a Pinterest: follow her
-i hate applying the fitted sheet to my bed
-if i could, i would be the love child of Miranda Lambert and Sara Bareilles; think of the songs

Happy Monday,

The Motto: YOLO

I lived the college dream this week. My weekend started on Wednesday night because my classes for Thursday and Friday were cancelled, I got a mani/pedi, my first (and definitely not last) spray tan, celebrated two 21st birthdays, went to formal and laid out/drank by the pool, complete with a DJ... my life is unreal.

Here is a glimpse through pictures!

Thursday night Kacey FINALLY joined the 21 club!
[This LBD is my new favorite item in my closet.
Spring Break purchase from Impeccable Pig.]
Birthday diva.

Anther Spring Break purchase: Target
So comfortable!

2 of my beautiful roommates
my amazing and dashing, dare I say amazingly dashing, date
...and the loves of my life!

next time I'll need to remember sunscreen!
"You only live once, that's the motto: YOLO"

Beau Turns 2!

Today was a big day at the Haines household.

Aside from cutting 5 inches off of my hair and going to my first job interview, today was Beau's birthday party!!

Since we don't know his exact birthday, the vet gave us an estimate and speculated his birthday was in February, so naturally we deemed Valentine's Day as the day this precious prince entered the world.

Unfortunately I wasn't in town for this blessed day, so we decided while everyone was home we would throw Beau a birthday party.

And throw a party we did...

Mike and Lisa picked up some good 'ole fashioned Texas BBQ for dinner, and my aunt and grandmother came over to join in on the festivities

Beau is VERY popular.

Then it was time for....BIRTHDAY CAKE!

We picked up a doggy birthday cake at "The Lucky Dog Barkery"
(Made of peanut butter and rice crispies)

Beau ate his special treat while being serenaded by his family (what birthday is complete without singing Happy Birthday??)

And while he indulged, so did we! With some mini bundt cakes called "bundtinies" from "Nothing Bundt Cakes"
--this might be the most delicious bakery in Dallas!
Treat after treat, the birthday boy was all tuckered out.

He wore his party hat ALL night...even while he slept :)
This one was one for the books...

Though it was a little "Kardashian" of us as my father put it, it was honestly too fun to explain. Beau is such a joy in our home that it was only right to throw him a party. It was well deserved and well worth people calling us "crazy."

I don't know when we turned into "those people" that threw birthday parties for their dog, but I sure am glad we did. Beau is too ;)

Xx,
-Lo.

p.s I got the job AND Katie got into SMU grad school. Look at us go... what a week!

Can't Take Me Anywhere

Yesterday sort of started out as a marathon. I woke up at 8:30 to pack and clean, had a test at 11, a paper due at 1 and my registration for classes for my last fall semester of college (weird) was at 2. Then it was time to hit the road and head to Montgomery where my flight to Dallas was scheduled to take off at 6:30.

If you've never been to the Montgomery airport before, which I'm going to take a leap of faith and say none of you have-there isn't much to it.

5 terminals. 1 "restaurant" (where they heat up hot pockets for you and fix your coffee).

But they do have....drum roll please...

Rocking chairs! Cue southern jokes.
and the nice thing is they have free Wi-Fi which DFW does NOT provide.

So I downloaded the new movie version of "Footloose" and the movie "Like Crazy." I decided to watch "Like Crazy" first since it fit better in my time scheme...this was not such a wise decision. Within the first 15 minutes I was tearing up.

So there I was, at the airport, sitting in a rocking chair, crying on and off for about an hour and a half. So embarrassing. You can't take me anywhere...

My flight ended up being delayed about an hour so I didn't get into Dallas until around 10p.m. But it was all worth it when I got home and saw my favorite puppy in the whole wide world!!!

I'm now sitting in my den, wrapped up in a pottery barn blanket, watching reality TV while the baby sleeps by the fireplace.

Happy spring break to me :) Can't wait to see what the week has in store

I've Got My Eye On...

Looks like I've got my work cut out for me this spring break...

I've never tried this style but it has potential to be a summer staple!
Also available in hot pink. very major.
Anthropologie.

These were not love at first sight but I'm contemplating making
the purchase. Definitely a style our future children will say "what were you thinking?!"
but fun none the less.
Steve Madden.

I need more shorts in my wardrobe and the colors and quality of
their shorts are ideal.
J Crew.

Love me some leopard.
J Crew.

Colored denim. I would love to find a peach and/or
mint green!
J Crew.
Love the shape and tortoise shell.
Rayban.

Great combo of dark rimmed and tortoise. Not as harsh
and adds a cool contrast. I already have glasses but these might be fun!
Rayban.

I almost bought a denim shirt from Madewell last year and I'm kicking myself
for not making the purchase! Denim shirts are very in this season and
so versatile!
Nordstrom.
Northpark here I come!

Fashionably yours,

A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes

Tonight is a night for letting my mind take me where it wants to go. As I group messaged with Erin and Ashley I was trying to post but I quickly realized I was thinking too hard. My mind drifted to baby french bulldogs (duh) which led me to a conversation I once had with Erin. It was one of those "when you picture your life in X number of years, what do you see?" kind of conversations. Only this was more of a..."If I had to describe an ideal life this is what it would look like"

It was in this conversation that she told me my love language was Pottery Barn. Truer words have never been spoken...just a tidbit for when you picture my living quarters for the future :)

The situation I described to her was me living in a big house:

with more landscaping obviously but this will do ;)
It's mid-morning and I'm sitting on a big white couch:

I am curled up reading my book of the moment or favorite magazines while drinking a cup of coffee out of a white, porcelain mug. I am most likely wearing a cozy, beige cardigan with some sort of skinny pant or legging.

My HOT hubby comes in to smooch me before he leaves for the office:
Mrs. Cooper

Mrs. Harding
Mrs. Chuck Bass....I'm really not picky...
And I am left to tend to my read, and my precious baby Henri:

Such a precious little prince!
And on most days my best friends who coincidentally live next door/down the street from me... will come over and gab for weekly daily lunches and happy hours...

End Scene.

In a perfect world...

Where does your mind take you?

Mommy and Me.

Well here I am... my weekend I was most looking forward to has come and gone unfortunately but that's the way the cookie crumbles now isn't it?

It was so nice to have my mom come visit me out here on the plains. Every time she's been to see me it's to move me in or out which means it's about 97 degrees outside with 100% humidity (no exaggeration).

The weekend forecast called for rain, rain, tornado watches, tornado warnings and more rain...

Lucky for us it was BEAUTIFUL Friday when Lisa arrived! We started the afternoon eating at Zoe's where we then wandered over to campus to see the new additions that give SMU a run for its money!

We paroozed the shops downtown where Lisa tried on almost more clothes than I did!

Dinner was had at Zazu's a local seafood type restaurant where we dined with Kacey and her mom and then Bailey and her mom..all the mom's were troopers and went to one of the bar's 1716 afterward! Such fun!!

Saturday was filled with more good food, a manicure, girly banter and then the cocktail party!

For her departure this afternoon the weather was absolutely gorgeous. One of those days that reminds me why I love this place :) But the wind was outrageous! It made me think of Ashley up in Chicago!!

The only downside to this weekend was that her stay was so short and that her flight got delayed!! I hate that she was sitting in the Atlanta airport for so long by herself!

Luckily I'll be in Dallas this time next week to see the rest of my beautiful family and friends!

I literally can't wait.... but for now I'm off to type a paper. Yuck. Luckily I have these beautiful Tulip's to keep my spirits up!

Love to all,
-Lo.

Blah.

For starters happy March 1st! I love the beginning of new months. It gives me the feeling of a clean slate.

In other news:
Midterms might be the worst time of the year. Other than finals.

I am so tired and am using this as the fastest study break ever...

Things I'm ready for:
1. Lisa to get to Auburn tomorrow afternoon
2. To finish all of these papers and assignments that are due next week
3. To be on spring break in the big D with some of my very favorite people on this planet
4. To be able to catch up on my TV shows!
5. Sleeping more than 5 hours without feeling guilty
6. Margaritas and TexMex!!!

I'll keep you updated on the adventures of Lisa and Lauren after this weekend!

....but until then...

Erin, this should get you excited
for our adventure to Society Bakery :)
Sleepily yours,
-Lo
